Get Involved!
Divine Resourcing simply cannot function without the help of our volunteers.
Volunteers are always needed to:
| Pickup food | Sort and pack food | Pickup other goods |
| Sort and pack goods | Verify how food and goods are used | Coordinate pickups |
| Take vehicles for maintenance | Clean and sanitize trucks | Clean and sanitize work areas |
| Coordinate efforts with other ministries | Prepare food samples | Teach cooking skills |
| Create and test recipes | Deliver food | And the list goes on... |
Even if you are only available once a week, once a month or once a quarter, you can still be a real blessing to us and those we serve. We have a growing number of opportunities in several areas.
Anytime Service Opportunities
Many people know Divine Resourcing because of our Food Rescue Efforts, but we are engaged in many other projects designed to gather and distribute other types of items to people in need. Everything from blankets and hygiene kits to furniture and automobiles.
We receive donations of all kinds of items on a regular basis and we need volunteers willing to come and unpack, organize and repack items for distribution. This activity can be done mornings, afternoons or evenings almost any day you are available. Call us at 404-783-1045 and we will work around your schedule.
Administrative Opportunities
We could certainly use some help in the area of administrative and clerical duties. Some of the tasks requires working from here (Johns Creek, GA) while other tasks could be performed from home for someone with computer access. We asking for an eight (8) hours per week commitment.
If you would like to volunteer to assist with these administrative duties, simply click here.
Clean Up and Scrub Down!
Saturdays from 1:00pm to 2:30pm
Sanitary conditions are critical in Food Rescue. As any of our Food Rescue Volunteers can tell you, we spend a fair amount of time each day sanitizing our work areas. But, that's not all that's involved in keeping the place clean. On Saturdays we need 3 or 4 volunteers to help us do a top-to-bottom clean up. Floors need to be scrubbed, refrigerators to be cleaned and freezers to be defrosted. This work is done at our Johns Creek, GA location.
If you have an occasional or regular Saturday available, please call Mike at 404-783-1045 and he put you on the schedule!
Food Rescue
A key service activity Divine Resourcing is involved in is "Food Rescue". To clarify, a "Food Bank" typically handles non-perishables such as canned goods, bags of beans and rice and so forth. A "Food Rescue" group on the other hand collects and distributes perishable food such as meat, fish, milk, cheese, fresh fruits and vegetables. Because this food is fresh and perishable, getting the food out to the ministries and agencies we serve is critical.
Our food benefactors require us to make pickups at specific times to accommodate their busy schedules.
Pickups
Pickups are typically made in our vehicles and DO NOT require the driver to have a Georgia Commercial Driver's License. A valid Georgia Driver's License and proof of insurance are required to drive our vehicles. Our volunteer drivers come to the designated locations, park their own vehicle and drive our vehicles to make the pickup. After the goods have been dropped off for processing, the driver returns the vehicle to the designated parking area.
| Pickup Days | Pickup Time | Pickup Location |
| M-W-F | Between 5:00 am & 7:00 am | Perimeter/Dunwoody area |
| 7 Days a week | Between 9:30 am & 10:30 am | Norcross/Peachtree Corners area |
| 7 Days a week | Between 11:30 pm & 1:00 am | Sandy Springs area |
Sort and Repack Food
Each day, Monday through Friday we need two (2) volunteers from 10:00am until noon to sort and inspect food items for signs of damage and spoilage. These items are then properly packed for distribution that day or frozen for distribution at a later date. This work is done at our Johns Creek, GA location.
| Days | Hours | # of Volunteers |
| M-Tu-W-Th-F | 10:00 am until 12:00 noon | 2 or more volunteers per day works best |
Deliveries
Deliveries are typically made in our vehicles and DO NOT require the driver to have a Georgia Commercial Driver's License. A valid Georgia Driver's License and proof of insurance are required to drive our vehicles. Our volunteer drivers come to the designated locations, park their own vehicle and drive our vehicles to make the deliveries. After the goods have been delivered, the driver returns the vehicle to the designated parking area.
| Delivery Days | Delivery Times | Delivery Locations |
| M-Tu-W-Th-F | From approximately 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm | Various grouped locations within Georgia |
